Udemy plans to go public next month

After the coronavirus pandemic caused a shift in the traditional learning industry and more people started using online platforms, many companies in the online learning industry tried to take advantage of the boom and raised additional funding. Private edtech start-ups have raised a record $14 billion this year while other companies like Coursera and Duolingo already went public.

Another edtech giant Udemy is reportedly preparing to file for an IPO at a valuation between $6 and $8 billion as soon as next month. Udemy was last valued at $3.30 billion when the company raised $50 million of Series F venture funding in November 2020 in a deal led by Tencent Holdings.
