Discord closes a $500 million funding round

Instant messaging platform Discord has closed a $500 million venture funding round led by Dragoneer Investment Group. The latest deal values the company at $15 billion, up from $7 billion the start-up was valued in December 2020 following its $100 million Series H round.

Especially popular with video gamers, San Francisco-based Discord now has more than 150 million monthly active users.
