Derek Weber is Founder & Managing Partner for Saxon Weber Group, in this role he leads the firm’s efforts in secondary transactions.

He has more than 25 years of extensive experience in strategic acquisitions, investment banking, and brokerage with The Carlyle Group, General Electric, and Hall Venture Partners.

Derek joined The Carlyle Group in 2007, a global alternative asset manager with $195 billion of assets under management; more than 1,750 investors from 83 countries – where he managed investments in a +$3b portfolio of software, products and services businesses. In 2011 Derek joined General Electric managing P&L’s and conducting corporate development at the highest levels.

In 2013, he co-founded Saxon Weber Group – an investment bank and co-investment platform focused on serving the private investment and capital markets in secondary transactions.

Derek had the honor of being named and having served as a United States Commerce Department Trade Delegate to China.

Additional CV Information Derek received his BA in Political Science and History and his MBA from the University of New York. He is also a registered representative and holds his FINRA Series 7, 82, and 63 registrations.

Derek is an avid runner, skier, tennis player, and mediocre golfer - he also is a fundraiser for St. Judes Children’s Research and the American Cancer Society.

He lives in New York and Kennebunkport, Maine with his wife, and two children.
